The Indian automotive market witnessed the highest-ever sales of strong hybrid cars in 2022. A total of 19,556 units of hybrid vehicles sold in the country. Honda City Hybrid
Honda City Hybrid, which was launched in mid 2022, comes with the 1.5L, 4-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine and two electric motors. While the first motor works as an electric generator, the other one does propulsion. The carmaker claims that the City hybrid offers a fuel economy of 26.5kmpl and 1,000km of range in a single change. The powertrain setup has been paired to an eCVT gearbox and a battery pack fitted in the boot. Its power and torque figures stand at 126bhp and 253Nm respectively. The strong hybrid versions of the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder come with a Toyota’s 92bhp, 1.5L, 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine paired to an electric motor (79bhp/141Nm). The setup delivers a combined power of 115bhp. It can be had with an eCVT gearbox. Its claimed mileage figure is 27.97kmpl. Based on the monocoque architecture, the all-new Toyota Innova Hycross MPV model lineup comes in G, GX, VX, ZX and ZX (O) trims. It includes four hybrid variants – VX 7-seater, VX 8-seater, ZX and ZX (O) – priced at Rs 24.01 lakh, Rs 24.06 lakh, Rs 28.33 lakh and Rs 28.97 lakh respectively.
