Mahindra XUV, BE Electric SUVs India Unveil On February 10

Mahindra had showcased the new Born Electric SUV concepts in August last year in the UK. The company had revealed 5 new electric SUVs under the XUV.e and the BE sub-brands. Designed at Mahindra’s MADE (Mahindra Advanced Design Europe) design studio in Oxfordshire, UK, the new Mahindra XUV and BE range of electric SUVs will make its India debut on February 10.

These models will be showcased a day before the first Formula E race weekend in India in Hyderabad. Mahindra’s Racing Factory Team has also represented India in Formula E since its inception. Mahindra will showcase 5 new electric SUVs namely – XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09.

Mahindra XUV900 Launch

The first Mahindra Born electric model to enter production line will be the XUV.e8, and is scheduled to be launched in December 2024. Both SUVs will be based on the INGLO platform that’s Born Electric Platform. The basic layout and silhouette and three rows of seats are similar to the Mahindra XUV700. The XUV.e8 measures 4740mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1760mm in tall and has a wheelbase of 2,762mm. It is around 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller than the XUV700, while the wheelbase is raised by 7mm.

The Mahindra XUV.e9 will come with a coupe-like design. The company has confirmed that it will be launched by April 2025. In terms of proportions, the SUV Coupe is 4790mm long, 1905mm wide and 1690mm tall. It will be a 5-seater model and will ride on a 2775mm long wheelbase. Design inspiration for the new XUV.e9 comes from the XUV Aero concept.

Mahindra BE Range – BE.05, BE.07, BE.09

Mahindra BE.05 Launch

The Mahindra BE.05 will be marketed as a Sports Electric Vehicle and will be positioned above the XUV400. It measures 4370mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1635mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2775mm. This model comes with aggressive front design with angular C-shaped headlamps and prominent airdams, sharp cuts and creases and a stroking air-duct on the bonnet. The SUV has large wheels and squared off wheel arches, flush door handle, a sloping roofline and C-shaped tail-lamps. Inside the cabin, it gets a large twin touchscreens with no physical buttons for AC controls and other functions.

To be positioned between the BE05 and the XUV.e8, the Mahindra BE.07 measures 4565mm in length, 1,900mm in width and 1,660mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,775mm. It is scheduled to be launched in October 2026. It comes with a traditional SUV styling. The C-shaped headlamps and tail-lights are similar to the one offered on the BE.05.

Mahindra hasn’t released the launch timeline and dimensions of the BE.09 electric vehicle. The new model will be based on the same INGLO platform and will be positioned above the BE.07 in terms of size and pricing. It will be a four-seater proper Coupe-SUV.

These electric SUVs will also support an all-wheel drive system. The new models are likely to be packed with an 80kWh battery pack and is expected to offer a power output in the range of 230bhp to 350bhp.
