Soon-to-be-Launched CNG, Hybrid, Electric Cars In India

With the soaring prices of petrol and diesel, demand for CNG cars has been increasing in the market. Buyers have also started exploring electric and hybrid options. In order to cash in on the surge in demand, several car manufacturers have planned several new CNG, hybrid and electric models. Here’re key details of the soon-to-be-launched alternative fuel vehicles.

Honda City e:HEV

2022 Honda City Hybrid

Honda Cars India has announced that prices of the new City Hybrid will be revealed on 4th May 2022. The model will be based on the fifth-generation City and come in a single ZX variant. Minimal changes have been made to its design. Major update is the Atkinson Cycle 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors offering a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.5kmpl. Kia EV6

Kia EV6 Bookings India

Kia EV6 will be the first and flagship electric car from the South Korean automaker in the country. Its official bookings will begin on 26th May and its market launch is likely to happen in August. Here, the EV6 electric crossover will come via CBU route and offered in range-topping GT-Line trim. Its prices are likely to be between Rs 55 lakh – Rs 60 lakh. The new Kia electric crossover will feature a 77.4kWh battery pack with a dual e-AWD system, delivering a range of 425km on a full charge. More details here…

Long-range Tata Nexon EV

Tata Nexon EV Grille

Tata Motors is ready to bring in the updated Nexon EV in coming weeks. Though, its official launch date is yet to be announced. The model will feature a bigger 40kWh battery pack offering power worth 136PS, which is 7PS more than the existing unit. With the larger battery, the electric subcompact SUV will promise a range of over 400km on a single charge. That means, it will be around 300-320km in real world conditions. The 2022 Tata Tigor EV with bigger battery pack has also been planned for the coming months. Powertrain specifications of the electric sedan are still under the wraps. Though, it will get the updated Ziptron electric technology that will promise longer range and more power. Maruti Baleno CNG/ Glanza CNG

New Toyota Glanza CNG Mileage

Maruti Suzuki Baleno and its rebadged version Toyota Glanza will soon receive CNG variants. Both models will come with a 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine paired to a CNG kit. Mileage figure of the hatchback’s CNG variant will be around 25kmpl. While the regular petrol motor returns a claimed power of 89bhp and 113Nm of torque, it will be slightly lower for the CNG version. A manual gearbox will perform transmission duties. Maruti Brezza CNG

2022 Maruti Vitara Brezza

The Indo-Japanese automaker will give a generation change to its top-selling Maruti Vitara Brezza. The new model will be called Maruti Brezza and it’s reported to come with the CNG kit. It will be equipped with the updated 1.5L K15C dualjet petrol engine delivering power around 115bhp. The same motor will also be offered with the factory-fitted CNG kit. The Brezza CNG is likely to be offered with the 5-speed manual gearbox only. The subcompact SUV will receive significant changes inside and out along with a new 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. More details here…
