Tata Avinya Electric SUV Concept Unveiled – 7 Key Details

Tata Avinya, the all-new electric SUV concept from the home-grown automaker, has finally made its debut in India. It’s brand’s first concept model to be based on the Gen 3 architecture – ‘Born Electric’ – that supports multiple body styles. The carmaker says that “It is intuitive, intelligent and non-intrusive. Will have cutting edge features like ADAS.” The new architecture will provide more cabin space with the same footprint.

Tata’s Born Electric is a skateboard pure EV platform that allows designer to use “best weight and space efficiency”. Similar to the conventional skateboard architecture, it has long wheelbase to accommodate large battery pack. The Avinya EV’s production version will witness a market launch in 2025.

The new Tata Avinya electric SUV concept carries stance similar to a hatchback and said to offer practicality of an MPV and a crossover. It appears quite aggressive from the front featuring a closed-off, massive grille and new LED headlamps with LED light signature. The stylish alloy wheels which are pronounced towards the outer edges, body cladding and bold shoulder creases enhance its side profile. The new Tata electric SUV concept has a neatly designed rear with a massive black bumper.

The official images reveal its lounge-like interior. It has a uniquely designed steering with an integrated display unit. The cabin looks spacious enough. Powertrain details of the all-new Tata Avinya EV are yet to be revealed. The company aims to offer an electric range of 500km for all its future EVs that will be designed on its Gen 3 platform.

Besides this, the home-grown carmaker is reportedly working on a new electric SUV that will equivalent to the Harrier. Since the Harrier’s Omega Arch platform is difficult to electrify, the company will use its new skateboard architecture for its future EVs. In fact, the Tata Harrier-sized electric SUV (codenamed – Eturna) received production approval from top officials. The model is likely to hit roads in its production avatar in early 2025.

This year, Tata Motors will introduce three new electric cars including the long-range Nexon EV, long-range Tigor EV and Altroz EV. Official launch date and details of these aforementioned electric cars are yet to be revealed by the automaker.
