Skoda Rapid Matte Concept India Launch In Late 2020

BS6 Skoda Rapid Petrol Mileage

Skoda Rapid Matte Concept was recently unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020 alongside the Rapid Monte Carlo Edition. Zac Hollis, Director, Skoda Auto India, has confirmed that the company’s first-ever factory painted Matte coloured Rapid will see a release in India by the end of this year. The sedan’s matte concept looks sportier than the regular model, thanks to its matte black finish and contrast red highlights and newly-designed blacked-out 17-inch alloy wheels.

Upfront, the Rapid Matte concept features darkened headlamps and fog lamps. You can notice the red highlights on the mirror cps, side moulding, brake calipers, rear diffuser and trunk lid spoiler and lid garnish. There are stainless-steel scuff plates with ‘Rapid’ moniker.

Sporty theme continues inside the cabin as well. The sedan’s matte painted model has Tellular Grey interior theme with premium black Alcantara seat covers. At the heart of the Skoda Rapid Matte concept is a BS6-compliant 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI turbocharged petrol engine. It will deliver power close to 110bhp. The updated BS6 Rapid petrol is claimed to be 25% more fuel efficient than BS4 version, delivering mileage around 20kmpl. This means the sedan’s new model will be as fuel economical as the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz that promises 20.65kmpl (MT) and 20kmpl (AT).

The BS6 Skoda Rapid will come with a 6-speed manual and an optional automatic gearbox. It’s likely to be priced slightly premium over the outgoing BS4 version and is expected go on sale in March, 2020.
