Royal Enfield twins will first go on sale in US on Sept 26, 2018

Royal Enfield has officially announced that the new Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 prices for US market will be revealed on September 26, 2018. The RE twins will go on sale in the Indian market in October 2018. These two are one of the most awaited motorcycles in India, thanks to the huge fan following for Royal Enfield.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 retro-styled street motorcycle gets a single seat, which is flat to offer comfortable ride for both pillion and rider. The flat handlebar and the well-placed foot gets offer an upright riding position. On the flip side, the Continental GT 650 gets a single seat. However, buyers can also opt for dual-seat. It sports clip-on handlebars and rear-set foot pegs for slightly aggressive riding stance.

Powering the new bikes is a new 648cc, air-cooled, SOHC, fuel-injected parallel-twin engine. This engine is capable of producing 47bhp of power at 7,100rpm and a peak torque of 52Nm at 4,000rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-assist clutch. The company claims that the most of the torque is available as early as 2,500rpm. The motorcycles have a ground clearance of 174mm. The new RE twins can attain a top speed of 160kmph and offers a fuel efficiency of 25.5kmpl (WMTC). While the Continental GT 650 weighs 198kg, the Interceptor 650 has 202kg weight. The fuel tank capacity for Continental and Interceptor stands at 12.5-litre and 13.7-litre respectively. For suspension duties, the bike gets conventional telescopic fork and gas-charged twin shock absorbers at the front and rear respectively. Dual-channel ABS is available as standard, and the braking system comprises of 320mm disc at the front and 240mm disc at the rear.
