Renault Grand Captur 7 Seater Model In The Works

Renault Captur 5 Things to Know

Renault could introduce the Grand Captur as a 5+2 seater car, as the third row could only accommodate kids

Renault, the French automaker is gearing up for the launch of the long-awaited Captur 5-seater premium SUV in the Indian market. If European media reports are to be believed, Renault is working on a new B-segment SUV. This new SUV will be positioned above the Clio-based Renault Captur and it will be launched in 2019. It is expected that the new SUV could be a larger ‘Grand Captur’, similar to the Scenic and Grand Scenic.

The Grand Captur will be a seven-seater iteration of the standard model. It was speculated that Renault Kaptur, which is similar to the India-spec Captur, will be a seven-seater Grand Captur. However, the company has opted for an affordable five-seater model for emerging markets like Russia, Latin America and India. This model is likely to be slotted between the regular Captur and the Kadjar 5-seater premium SUV. Also Read – Upcoming Renault Cars In India

Similar to the Scenic MPV cousins, Renault could increase the wheelbase of the Captur to accommodate two new foldable seats at the back. The company could introduce this SUV as a 5+2 seater car, as the third row could only accommodate children. As per media, the new model is part of Renault’s EUR 600 million investment into its Valladolid facility in Spain. The French automaker will also increase the production capacity of this plant and will develop an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine. Interestingly, Renault has already started testing the next generation Captur crossover. The next model is likely to be launched in European markets in 2019.
