Official Images of the Genesis GV80 Premium SUV Released

Hyundai’s luxury car brand, Genesis has released the first official images of the GV80, the first SUV for the brand. The three-row Genesis GV80 will be the fourth model in the company’s lineup, joining the likes of the G70, G80 and G90 sedans.

The Genesis GV80 SUV will be based on a rear-wheel-drive platform, while the all-wheel-drive layout will be offered as optional. The company claims that the the “V” in the Genesis GV80 marque represents versatility that only a Genesis SUV can offer.

“Over the last four years, Genesis established itself as a respected luxury brand with superior vehicle quality and a lineup of class-leading sedans with charismatic and discriminating style,” said William Lee, Executive Vice President and Global Head of the Genesis Brand. “With the launch of GV80, Genesis will elevate expectations for excellence within the luxury SUV market.”

The Genesis GV80 SUV was first previewed as concept at the 2017 New York Auto Show. The SUV was designed by Genesis Design studios located in South Korea, the United States and Germany. The front design of the SUV is dominated by the signature ‘crest’ grille and quad-headlamp setup. A strong beltline runs across the length of the vehicle and merges to the tail-lights. There are strong character lines at the front and rear wheel arches. Other styling elements include sharply raked D-pillar, split tail-light setup and ‘GENESIS’ lettering on the tailgate area.

The cabin of the Genesis GV80 is neatly designed, featuring clutter free and minimalistic design. There are two touchscreens, one for controlling media and the other down in the centre console for the climate control system. Key features include a digital instrument console, a two-spoke steering wheel, AC vents on the dashboard and a rotary gear-selector knob.

Genesis is yet to reveal the engine specifications of the GV80 SUV. It is expected to be offered with 3 engine options – a 304bhp, 2.5-litre, 6-cylinder petrol, a 278bhp, 3.0L 6-cylinder diesel and a 380bhp, 3.5L, V6 petrol.
