Mahindra & Mahindra will soon roll out the BS6-compliant version of its popular XUV500 SUV. Ahead of its official launch, the variant and engine details of the vehicle have been revealed via an RTO document. Powering the updated Mahindra XUV500 will be the BS6-compliant version of the existing 2.2L mHawk diesel engine. Interestingly, the power and torque figures of the BS6-ready model will remain unchanged. That means, it will deliver a peak power of 155PS at 3,750rpm and 360Nm of torque between 1,750rpm – 2,800rpm.
In order to make it BS6-ready, the carmaker might upgrade the oil burner with DPF (diesel particular filter) or SCR (selective catalytic reduction). The BS6 Mahindra XUV500 will come with a 6-speed manual transmission only. There will be no automatic gearbox on offer. No other changes will be made to the SUV. The BS6 Mahindra XUV500 is estimated to be priced around Rs 40,000 – Rs 50,000 premium than the BS4 version. Currently, the SUV comes in the price range of Rs 12.3 lakh – Rs 18.62 lakh. The existing W7, W9 and W11 variants cost Rs 14.18 lakh, Rs 15.88 lakh and Rs 17.16 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom.
