Nissan’s Compact SUV to be Based on Triber’s Platform – Teased
Japanese automaker, Nissan has officially announced to launch an all-new sub-4 meter SUV in India this year. The SUV will be Nissan’s answer to the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Mahindra XUV300. It will be based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A modular platform, which also underpins the Triber, Kwid and the upcoming Renault HBC compact SUV.
The baby Nissan Kicks will be designed at the company’s headquarters in Japan; however, the SUV will be developed with close to 98% localisation in India. The made-in-India SUV will also be exported to select international markets. Also See – Nissan Compact SUV launch timeline revealed
The new Nissan’s compact SUV is likely to receive Renault’s upcoming 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is based on the 1.0L Energy petrol engine. The new engine is expected to produce close to 95bhp of power. It will also power the Triber MPV and the upcoming Renault HBC compact SUV. The new subcompact SUV is expected to come with manual and AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gearbox options.
Nissan has also released a teaser image of the upcoming compact SUV’s silhouette. The teaser image reveals that the SUV will have a crossover-like design, which seems heavily inspired by the Nissan Kicks. It comes with a floating roof design along with dual-tone paint schemes. The SUV is likely to share styling cues from the second-gen Juke SUV sold in international markets.
More details about the new models will be revealed closer to its launch. It is expected that the compact SUV will be fitted with several comfort and convenience features. The compact SUV is also expected to receive connected car technology.
