This incident will surely crake you up! 😀 The two workers at Renault-Nissan Chennai-based facility have stolen two new Duster SUVs worth Rs 25 lakh. The thieves have been identified as P Marimuthu (28) alias Mohamed Asharaf of Kundrathur and M Arun Kumar (27) of Tondiarpet, and arrested by Tamil Nadu police. Both of them have been employed at the plant for over seven years.

The gang of two thieves managed to deceive the security system with fake number plates, gate passes and a few used cars. They not only exchanged the old vehicles with the two new Duster SUVs, but even sold one of them for Rs 6 lakh to person named Kumar. Painted in Silver and Brown shades, the stolen Renault Duster SUVs have fake registration numbers – TN10AJ9283 and TN01AV2244.

During police interrogation, the thieves revealed that they used to take out the vehicles for mechanical defect testing before the dealership dispatch. They faked gate passes and vehicle registration numbers to drive the Duster SUVs out of the facility’s premises.

Commenting on the case, the investigating officer said, “Company officials discovered on January 22 that two newly-manufactured SUVs were missing. The vehicles, they found, were in the company yard till at least January 7, awaiting delivery to Renault Nissan showrooms.”
