The next-gen Hyundai Creta is 30mm longer, 10mm wider and 45mm shorter than the outgoing model.

Hyundai had showcased the next-gen ix25 SUV at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. For people not in the know, the ix25 is currently on sale in India as the Creta SUV. The new ix25 previews the next-gen Creta, which will be launched in the Indian market in 2020. The SUV is expected to make India debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. Hyundai will launch the next-gen Creta in two seating configurations – 5- and- 7-seater. While the 5-seater model will go on sale in 2020, the 7-seater model is likely to arrive in the early 2021.

The next-generation Hyundai Creta will be based on the new platform, which also underpins the Kia SP2i SUV. The new model will be lighter than the outgoing model. Thanks to the new platform, the new Creta has also grown in size. It measures 4,300mm in length, 1,790mm in width and 1,620mm in height, which makes it 30mm longer, 10mm wider and 45mm shorter than the outgoing model. In fact, the wheelbase has been increased by 20mm to 2,610mm. Also See – All-new Hyundai Creta – 5 big changes to look out for

The increase in length and wheelbase directly translates into more cabin space. The current model offers decent space for the rear occupants, but the increase in size will further improve the rear comfort. Additionally, it will also allow Hyundai to free up space for the boot. Hyundai is also expected to further increase the length of the SUV to accommodate third row of seats, though official details are yet to be revealed.

In terms of styling, the new Hyundai ix25 comes with more rounded profile rather than the squarish design in the current model. Design inspiration comes from bigger Hyundai SUVs including Santa Fe and Palisade. Upfront is a signature Hexagonal cascading grille with piano black finish and chrome outline, twin-headlamp setup with LED DRLs on top and main headlamp on lower side of the bumper.

The next-gen Creta comes with all-new interior, which seems inspired by the Teslas. It gets a large touchscreen infotainment system that flows into the centre console to form a single entity. There are no physical buttons, except for the start/stop button. The India-spec model will receive the newly developed BSVI compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines.
