Maruti Fronx Facelift Coming Next Year; New-Gen Baleno In 2026

Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch a wide range of new models including multiple SUVs, hybrids and EVs. The company is developing its own strong hybrid tech, which will debut in its small cars including the Baleno, Fronx, Swift twins and the Brezza. The new Maruti Fronx facelift will be launched in our market sometime in 2025.

It is expected to be equipped with the Maruti’s hybrid system (codenamed HEV), which is likely to be significantly cost effective compared to Toyota’s series-parallel hybrid tech. This hybrid tech receives mechanical power from the electric motor, powered by either a petrol generator or a battery. The vehicle’s computer will determine the proportion of power from the battery or the generator. The system can use the battery pack to power the motor, thus reducing use of the engine for higher efficiency.

Maruti Fronx Launch

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift will be powered by a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine, which will debut in the new-gen Swift hatchback in 2024. The hybrid tech will be added to the brand’s new Z12E powerrain. This hybrid system will comprise of the 1.2L 3-cylinder engine (which will work as a generator), an electric motor and a battery pack with a capacity of 1.5kWh to 2kWh.

Maruti Suzuki is also working on the next generation Baleno hatchback, which is scheduled to be launched sometime in 2026. The new model is likely to be based on the modified HEARTECT platform, which will also support hybrid tech. The next-gen Baleno hatchback will share the strong hybrid powertrain from the Fronx facelift.

Maruti Baleno Sales

The company will introduce the new-gen Swift and Dzire sub-4 meter sedan in the next few months. Adding to it, MSIL will launch a new Spacia-based MPV in 2026 and an all-new electric SUV based on Suzuki eVX concept. Adding to it, the company is also developing an entry-level electric hatchback and an electric MPV.
