Maruti Suzuki is reportedly planning to expand its Nexa product portfolio with a range of new utility vehicles. The upcoming lineup is likely to include the 5-door Jimny SUV, new mid-size SUV and C-segment MPV. While the new Maruti Suzuki compact SUV will face challenge from the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, the new MPV will take on the upcoming Hyundai and Kia 7-seater MPVs. 1. Toyota Raize Platform

The carmaker’s new compact SUV will be designed on Toyota’s new DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) platform. The same architecture also underpins the recently unveiled Toyota Raize SUV. The DNGA is a cost-effective version of the globally renowned TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. It’s claimed to improve fuel efficiency and driveability of the vehicle

2. Petrol, Diesel Engines

There is no official word about its engine and gearbox options. If reports are to be believed, the new Maruti compact SUV might be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The carmaker will might use the 1.2L turbo or 1.5 K15B petrol motor and the diesel model is likely to get 1.5L unit. The model lineup could be offered with manual and automatic gearboxes.

3. Might Replace S-Cross

The new mid-size SUV from Maruti Suzuki might be introduced as a replacement to the S-Cross crossover that was recently launched with BS6 petrol engine. 4. Sold Via Nexa

As mentioned above, the Indo-Japanese carmaker will add three new models to its premium Nexa sales and service network. The new mid-size SUV will join the Nexa bandwagon that currently includes Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz, S-Cross and XL6.

5. Expected Launch

The new Maruti compact SUV is likely to hit Indian roads sometime in 2022.
