The new Honda Civic 2019 will be imported to India from Thailand as CKD unit.

Honda Cars India recently launched the new-generation CR-V SUV in the country. At the launch event, the Japanese carmaker has confirmed that the new Honda Civic too will see a release by the end of this fiscal year. While the official launch date is yet to be announced, the sedan’s new model is likely to hit showrooms in February, 2019. The new Civic, which was recently revealed via official pictures, will be imported from Thailand as CKD unit.

Just to jog your memory, the Japanese carmaker introduced the eighth-generation Civic in India back in 2006. After the initial success, the sales of the saloon started fading due to the lack of diesel engine option and a shrinking segment. Therefore, the company discontinued the Honda Civic in 2013. The bigger update that will come with the new Honda Civic 2019 will be the new 120bhp, 1.6L i-DTEC diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It’s the same powertrain that has been used in the new CR-V SUV. The petrol model might come with a 140bhp, 1.8L i-VTEC motor with both manual and an automatic gearbox.

On the exterior, the new Honda Civic 2019 will have piano black accents, new front bumper and fog lamps with chrome surrounding, newly-designed alloy wheels and revised taillamps. Inside, it will get a large 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The saloon will also come with a pack of advanced comfort and safety features.
