India’s top three automakers, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors have planned several all-new models across segments including EVs. Here’re some key details of the upcoming new-generation models from Maruti, Hyundai and Tata.

New-Gen Models – Maruti, Hyundai, Tata

Maruti Swift/Dzire

2020 Maruti Dzire Features

The new-generation Maruti Swift and Dzire are reported to hit roads in the first quarter of 2024. Both models will be powered by an all-new 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine boosted with Toyota’s strong hybrid tech. The setup will deliver an ARAI-certified mileage of 35-40kmpl, thus making them the most fuel-efficient cars in the country. With the new powertrain, the next-gen Swift and Dzire will meet the CAFÉ II (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) in April 2023. Compared to their regular petrol counterparts, the strong hybrid versions will surely be more expensive. Both models will continue to be available with the CNG fuel option.

Hyundai Verna

2023 Hyundai Verna Launch

The new-generation Hyundai Verna is slated to go on sale in India by April 2023. Major feature upgrade will come in the form of ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) offering features such as lane keep assist, driver attention monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision mitigation and rear cross traffic assistance. The sedan’s new model will be bigger and more spacious than the existing one. A few noticeable changes will also be made to its exterior. Powering the 2023 Hyundai Verna will be the same 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.4L petrol engines.

Tata Tiago/Tigor/Nexon

2022 Tata Nexon

Tata Motors will give a generation change to its three popular models, namely, Tiago, Tigor and Nexon. All three models will switch to Alfa (Agile, Light, Flexible Architecture) platform that underpins the Altroz and Punch in India. If reports are to be believed, the new-generation Nexon will feature more refined 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines. The carmaker might benefit its engines with the mild hybrid technology. If it happens, the all-new Tata Nexon, Tiago and Tigor will be more fuel efficient than their existing models. These models will also comply to the upcoming stricter CAFÉ II standards.
