New Ford SUV (Mahindra XUV500 Based) – What We Know So Far

A few days ago, we have seen the first image of the upcoming new Ford C-SUV revealing its front grille, headlamps, bumper and pronounced hood. Codenamed – Ford CX757, the SUV will take head-to-head against the cars like MG Hector and Tata Harrier. Here’s each and every detail we know so far about the upcoming new Ford SUV.

– The new Ford SUV will be the first production model to be rolled out under Ford Motor Company and Mahindra & Mahindra partnership.

– It will share its platform with the second-generation Mahindra XUV500 that’s due for the first quarter of 2021.

– Interestingly, the new Ford SUV will also be among the first model that will be designed by Mahindra-owned – Pininfarina. The project is reported to be managed by Ford’s Cologne based office in Germany.

– Besides the platform, Ford’s C-SUV will share its engines with the all-new XUV500. That means, it will come with the new 2.0L mStallion petrol and 2.2L diesel engines making 190bhp with 380Nm and 180bhp respectively.

– The new 2.0L turbo petrol engine, which broke cover at the 2020 Auto Expo, is Mahindra’s the most powerful till date. The same motor does duty in the new Thar, but generates a different power output.

– The SUV might be offered with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

– The new Ford C-SUV is likely to hit roads sometime in 2022. The model will be produced by Mahindra that’s allowed to use Ford’s Gujarat and Tamil Nadu based facilities. In the company’s product lineup, the new model will be placed above the EcoSport and below the Endeavour.

– At latest digital rendering previews a possible production design of the upcoming Ford SUV. The rendered model features a wide grille with LED strips, a trapezoidal second air-dam and vertically staked three-piece LED lights integrated on the lower bumper.

– The recently leaked spy pictures reveal that the SUV will share some of its features with the new Mahindra XUV500 including a large single-piece touchscreen that will work as infotainment system and instrument console.
