MG’s Compact SUV (Baojun RS-3) Launched in China; India Next?
We informed you earlier that MG Motor is planning to launch an all-new compact SUV in the Indian market. The new model will sit under the Hector nameplate and will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and the Kia Seltos.
For people not in the know, MG and Baojun owned by SAIC Motors, and the MG Hector is basically the re-engineered Baojun 530 SUV. Baojun has now launched the all-new RS-3 compact SUV in the Chinese market.
The company claims that the RS-3 small sporty SUV comes with cutting edge connectivity. It available in 4 variants priced between RMB 71,800 and RMB 89,800 (approx INR 7.21 lakh and Rs 9.02 lakh).
The new compact SUV is equipped with the latest version of Baojun’s connectivity system, which integrates mobile connectivity and in-vehicle features. Users can locate and lock/unlock their vehicles, turn on the air-conditioning, and more remotely via their smartphones.
It comes with advanced voice recognition system, which allows customers to transfers their voice messages to text messages via WeChat. The system is capable of over-the-air upgrades. The Baojun RS-3 also features Bosch’s driver assistance system.
The Level-2 ADAS system covers most daily driving scenarios to reduce driving fatigue, especially during heavy traffic. The SUV’s advanced adaptive cruise control system can be activated at a speed of up to 130 km/h.
In terms of proportions, the Baojun RS-3 compact SUV is 4,305mm in length, 1,748mm in width and 1,597mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,550mm.
The RS-3 is powered by a 104bhp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine matched with a continuously variable transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. The RS-3 is the fourth model in Baojun’s new product portfolio introduced this year, joining the RS-5 SUV, RM-5 MPV and RC-6 sedan.
