MG Maxus D90 Will Be More Powerful Than Fortuner, Endeavour
MG Motor entered India with the all-new Hector SUV that has been generating volume for the carmaker. In coming months, the British carmaker will bring in the MG ZS electric SUV and the 6-seater version of the Hector. The MG Maxus D90 full-fledged SUV is also reported to make its way to India.
Globally, the MG Maxus D90 SUV is offered with a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine that’s good enough for 224bhp and 360Nm. In India, however, the 7-seater SUV will be made available with a diesel powertrain. Recently, the company previewed the MG Maxus D90 with a 2.0L diesel engine at the 2019 Guangzhou Auto Show in China.
Derived from the FCA Multijet II motor, the new 2.0L diesel engine delivers a claimed power of 218bhp and a peak torque of 480Nm. The same oil burner will be offered on the India-spec MG Maxus D90. With this diesel unit, the new MG 7-seater SUV will become the most powerful car in its segment. Read – MG Motor to Launch 3 New SUVs in India by July 2021
The Maxus D90’s arch rivals – Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour – come with a 177bhp, 2.8L and 200bhp, 3.2L diesel engine respectively. The Mahindra Alturas G4 and Isuzu MU-X (from the same segment) get a 181bhp, 2.2L and a 177bhp, 3.0L diesel motor respectively. That said, the MG Maxus D90 will be more powerful than all its rivals in the country.
