Mercedes-Benz has finally launched the highly rated Mercedes GLA crossover in the Indian car market. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the GLA crossover is priced at Rs. It will compete against the likes of already established BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
Based on the versatile MFA platform which also underpins the A-and B-Class, the GLA Crossover is available in two variants- Style and Sport. The GLA Crossover variants and prices:
GLA 200 CDI Style- Rs. 32.75 lakh
Petrol Sport- Rs. 36 lakh
CDI Sport Diesel- Rs. 36.9 lakh
The Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover petrol is propelled by the new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged, direct injection system, which is capable of producing 183bhp of power and churns out 300Nm of torque between 1200-1400rpm. It crosses 0-100kmph barrier in just 7.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 225kmph. The oil burner is the 2143cc turbocharged motor that churns out a maximum power output of 135PS and 300Nm of torque. It does 0-100kmph in 9.9 seconds and hits a top speed of 205kmph. Both engines are paired to a 7G-DCT automatic transmission with dual clutch setup.
While the diesel version delivers an impressive fuel economy of 17.7kmpl, the petrol model returns 13.3kmpl. The Mercedes-Benz GLA Crossover is 4.4 metre long, 1.8 metre wide and 1.49 metre tall, and it caomes with a large wheelbase of 2.69 metre. The vehicle carries a good ground clearance of 183mm, which makes easier to drive through rugged Indian roads. It offers a large boot space of 421-litres, which can be further extended to 1,235-litres by folding the rear seats.
