Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol likely to get 90bhp, 1.2L DualJet Engine

The new 1.2L DualJet petrol engine will first debut in the Baleno hatchback.

It is no secret that Maruti Suzuki is preparing a facelift version of the popular Vitara Brezza, which is most likely to be offered in petrol and diesel guise. The new model will come with BSVI compliant engines and new transmission options. A new media report claims that Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce a new 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine in the Baleno hatchback, which will latter offer in other Maruti cars in India.

It is expected that the Vitara Brezza facelift will also receive this powertrain. The new 1.2-litre K12C DualJet petrol engine is expected to churns out 90bhp of power at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 120Nm. This engine will also be benefitted with newly developed 5-speed manual gearbox. Compared to the Maruti’s existing K12B 1.2L engine, the new Dualjet unit is 7bhp more powerful and 5Nm torquier.

Not just petrol, Maruti Vitara Brezza will also receive a new diesel engine. The compact SUV will be powered by an in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine that recently debuted in the Ciaz sedan. This powertrain will replace the existing 1.3-litre DDiS unit, which will be phased out from the market post April 2020. The Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift will also be benefitted with the brand’s mild-hybrid system – SHVS. The DualJet petrol engine will receive the single battery Smart Hybrid system instead of the dual-battery setup of the Ciaz’s 1.5-litre petrol engine. Previous reports claim that the company has already started developing the new Brezza facelift. In fact, over 5,000 units of the SUV have already been manufactured. The updated model is expected to be launched in the next 2 to 3 months.
