Mahindra cars to get expensive by up to Rs 73,000 from April 1, 2019.

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited has officially announced to increase the prices of the cars will be increased by 0.5 to 2.7 per cent from April 1st, 2019. The price of its range of personal and commercial vehicles will witness an increase of Rs 5,000 to Rs 73,000. The company hasn’t revealed the new prices of the vehicles.

According to Rajan Wadhera, President Automotive Sector, M&M Ltd., “This year has seen record high commodity price increases. Further there are regulatory requirements effective April 1st that have also led to cost increases. While we have made efforts to reduce our costs, it has not been possible to hold back the price increase. Consequently we are taking a price increase from April 1, 2019.”

The price hike will also be applicable on the newly launched Mahindra SUVs including the XUV300 and the Altura G4. Adding to it, the company’s entire SUV range will also witness a price hike. The company is currently selling eight SUVs starting from Mahindra KUV100 NXT to the Altura G4.

Mahindra is also working on a range of new products, including electric versions of the XUV300 and KUV100 for the Indian market. Adding to it, the new-generation models of the Scorpio, Thar, Bolero and XUV500 will also arrive in the next 18 months. Mahindra has also joined hands with Ford to develop new models, platforms and electric cars for the Indian market. The first model under this partnership is expected to arrive in late 2020 or early 2021. Ford will launch an all-new SUV based on the next-generation Mahindra XUV500.
