Maruti mini SUV

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is working on an all-new micro SUV based on the Concept Future S. This mini SUV was first previewed at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Few media reports claim that this model could mark the re-introduction of the iconic Maruti Suzuki ZEN nameplate. What’s interesting is that the Indo-Japanese automaker is also working on the next-gen Alto, which is rumoured to have SUV-ish profile. It is quite early to comment whether the new mini SUV will be called the ZEN or next Alto. It will be built on the new HEARTECT platform, which also underpins the new Wagon R. This model is scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2019.

Tata H2X

Buoyed by positive response for Harrier and Nexon SUVs, Tata Motors is now aiming to enter into the micro SUV segment. To be positioned below the Nexon, the new small SUV will be based on the H2X concept that debuted at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It will be the brand’s second new product to be based on the new ALFA modular platform. The Tata H2X mini SUV will rival the likes of upcoming Maruti mini SUV and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine, which will also power the upcoming Altroz hatchback. This engine produces 100bhp of power and 172Nm of torque. The small SUV is scheduled to be launched in mid-2019, most probably around July-August. The production version of the H2X SUV will debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. continue reading….
