The new-generation Kia Soul received positive response from visitors at the 2020 Auto Expo

The Korean automaker, Kia Motors is considering the globally popular Soul Cross-Hatch for the Indian market. Not just the Kia Soul petrol, the company is also evaluating the Soul EV. For people not in the know, Kia had showcased the Crossover-hatch at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The company claims to have received a positive response from the visitors about the Soul at the biennial event. The report further claims that Kia Motors is looking at the Soul or a similar-sized vehicle for the Indian market.

Speaking to C&B, Manohar Bhat, VP Head- Sales & Marketing, Kia Motors India said that the company is seriously looking at the Soul for our market. The launch will only take place after checking out on how the market is progressing.

The introduction of the Soul EV is not on a priority as the demand for such vehicles are very low in India. In the global markets, the Kia Soul is available with 2 petrol engine options – a 198bhp, 1.6-litre turbocharged engine and a 145bhp, 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated. The turbocharged unit is available with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the naturally-aspirated unit comes with a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic unit.

Not just Soul, Kia Motors is also considering several global Kia models including the Telluride full-size 8-seater SUV and the 7-seater Sorento for the Indian market. The company is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited Kia Sonet sub-4 meter SUV. Scheduled to be launched around August-September 2020, the new compact SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra XUV300. It will be offered with 3 engine options and 4 gearbox options. The small SUV will be equipped with several segment-leading features.
