This Tata Blackbird rendering is actually a Subaru Viziv Concept with Nexon’s fog lamp and Tata logo on the grille.

Remember the next-gen Tata Sumo Rendering from the Youtube user Motorwala! The next Sumo imagined with Ford Explorer and Land Rover Evoque design elements, and the Tata’s logo. This time, this guy reveals a new rendering of the much-awaited Tata Blackbird mid-sized SUV. It follows the same pattern as it uses the Subaru Viziv Concept body to imagine the new Tata Blackbird.

The Subaru Viziv concept was first unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The youtube user also uses the Tata’s official footage to claim that the rendering is based on his imagination. He simply copy paste the Tata Nexon’s fog lamp, revised Viziv bumper and grille and placed the Tata badge at the centre on the grille. Also See – Tata Blackbird – What To Expect?

Talking about the Tata Blackbird, it is reported that the homegrown automaker is developing an all-new mid-sized SUV. Internally called the Blackbird, the new SUV will be positioned between the Nexon and the Harrier. The new model will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others in its category.

Previous media reports claim that the new Tata Blackbird SUV could be based on the Chinese Chery Tiggo 5X mid-sized SUV. In fact, Tata is benchmarking the new SUV against the Tiggo 5X. It is also reported that the Blackbird could be the re-engineered Tiggo 5X. For people not in the know, Chery and Tata’s owned JLR is currently in 50:50 joint venture in China. Under the JV, the Jaguar cars aand Land Rover vehicles are manufactured at the Chery JLR’s assembly plant in Changshu.In fact, Chery Automobile Co. is planning to enter in the Indian market in collaboration with Tata Motors.

It was speculated to be based on the ALFA modular platform; however, this platform won’t suit SUV with size over 4.3 meters in length. The company’s OMEGA architecture, based on Land Rover Defender’s D8 architecture, will be expensive for a mid-sized SUV.
