Key Findings
1. Hyundai Creta, that received its facelift last month, did beat Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza to emerge as the top-selling SUV in the country. Yes, we get it that usually new/updated models do really well initially because of the hype, but remember it has beaten a car that costs almost 35-40 percent less since the later is a sub-4 metre SUV. Also the Brezza too received its automatic (AGS/AMT) model last month, so the same amount of hype was created for it as well.
2. Tata Motors’ second best-selling product Nexon has been doing tremendously for the company. With over 4000 monthly sales constantly, the Nexon has become a significant product in the sub-4 metre compact SUV space. And with a total sales of 4,148 in June 2018, it has not only beaten the Ford EcoSport but has emerged as the third best-selling SUV in the country.
3. Mahindra surely needs to pull up their socks, as they are no more the top-selling utility vehicle maker which they were earlier. All of their products are either stagnant in growth or seeing continuous drop. Even the Mahindra TUV300, which once was among the top 3 selling compact SUVs, managed to do merely 1811 units in June 2018.
4. Though Jeep Compass managed to remain in the top 10 selling SUVs (Coz we haven’t included S-Cross in the list), Fiat-Chrysler India needs to do everything they can to gain the momentum back for the Compass. They didn’t even manage to sell even 1500 units of the Compass in June 2018.
5. Honda needs to do sort out their product issues on an urgent basis. Every time, one of their products go up in demand they start lowering the production of others. Just to fulfil the rising demand for the Amaze right now, the company is failing to deliver City and WR-V.
