Hyundai Venue Beats Big – Becomes India’s Best-Selling SUV
Hyundai’s newest SUV, the Venue has become India’s best-selling SUV in August sales. The compact SUV outsells the popular SUVs including the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai Creta.
Hyundai delivered 9,585 units of the Venue compact SUV in August, while the Brezza stands at 7,109 units. The Kia Seltos is at third position with sales of 6,236. Hyundai’s 5-seater premium SUV, Creta recorded total sales of 6,001 units in August 2019. The Venue’s direct rivals including the Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Honda WR-V sales stand at 2,532 units, 2,275 units and 1,178 units respectively. Korean automaker had launched the Venue compact SUV on May 21. The SUV recorded over 50,000 pre-orders for the compact SUV in just 60 days of the commencement of orders. The Hyundai Venue is available with 3 engine options – a 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.4-litre diesel and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol. The turbocharged engine is capable of producing 118bhp of power and 172Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. The company will replace the 1.4-litre diesel engine with the new 1.5-litre engine that also powers the Kia Seltos.
