Hyundai Venue 1.0L Turbo to challenge Ford EcoSport EcoBoost

Hyundai Venue 1.0L Vs Ford EcoSport

The Hyundai Venue 1.0L version will directly challenge the popular and capable Ford EcoSport EcoBoost model.

Korean automaker, Hyundai has unveiled the long-awaited Venue sub-4 meter SUV in India. The Hyundai Venue compact SUV will be the company’s smallest SUV, which will also go on sale in the international markets. In India, the sub-4 meter SUV will go on sale on May 21, 2019. The small SUV will be available with 3 engine options – a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel.

In this article we are talking about the new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is one of the most powerful in its category. This 3-cylinder T-GDI Kappa petrol engine is currently available in the international-spec i20 hatchback. With Venue, Hyundai introduced this powertrain in India. This engine is capable of producing 120PS of power and 172Nm of peak torque. It also marks the debut of 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the gearbox will be offered as standard.

The Hyundai Venue is also the only SUV in its league to offer dual-clutch automatic transmission option. The Hyundai Venue 1.0L version will directly challenge the popular and capable Ford EcoSport EcoBoost model. The EcoSport S variant is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 125PS of power and 170Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed torque convertor automatic option. Also See – Hyundai Venue engine options revealed

The pre-facelift EcoSport 1.0L was also available with dual-clutch automatic option. Since this combination is no more available, the Venue becomes the only SUV to offer dual-clutch transmission in India. In terms of power, Ford’s EcoBoost is still 5PS more than the Hyundai’s 1.0-litre T-GDI petrol engine. However, the torque value of both these engines is quite close to each other.

The Hyundai Venue compact SUV will challenge the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the higher variants of Tata Nexon and the Maruti Vitara Brezza. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakh – Rs 12 lakh. The SUV is equipped with several segment-leading features like Blue Link connectivity solution, wireless charger, air purifier, etc. Other features will include electric sunroof, multi-functional steering wheel, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic AC, rear AC vents and others.
