Hyundai Creta To Get 8 New Rivals – Tata, Maruti, Mahindra

Competition in the mid-size SUV segment is going to be fiercer in the coming years. Several car manufacturers have planned new models in this particular space that’s currently ruled by Hyundai Creta. Here’s a brief on the upcoming Hyundai Creta rivals.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is ready to challenge the Hyundai Creta with its all-new Urban Cruiser Hyryder that’s slated to go on sale on 16th August, 2022. Official bookings for the model have already been commenced at a token sum of Rs 25,000. Toyota’s new SUV will be made available in E, S, G and V trims and two powertrain options – 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycel petrol with a 177.6V lithium-ion battery and 1.5L K15C petrol with ISG (Integrated Starter Generator). Maruti Suzuki’s new mid-size SUV – Grand Vitara – is reported to hit showrooms in September 2022. Though, its official launch date is yet to be announced. Speculations are on rife that the prices of the new Maruti SUV will start from Rs 9.50 lakh and go up to Rs 18 lakh. The model lineup will come in Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha trims and 9 exterior colour options (6 monotone and 3 dual-tone). New Jeep Compact SUV Launch

The American SUV manufacturer has been working on a new compact SUV that’s reported to be named Jeep Jeepster. In fact, the model is currently in its testing phase and recently caught on camera.  Rumour has it that the Jeepster could make its way to India. If launched, it will be the smallest and most affordable Jeep SUV in the country. The SUV will witness a launch in global markets sometime next year. It will measure around 4.23 metres in length and come with the mild hybrid and electric powertrain options. It will be available with the eAWD system. The French automaker is reportedly working on the Hyundai Creta rival that will be named Citroen C3 Aircross. The SUV is likely to witness a release sometime in 2024. Some of its design elements could be borrowed from the newly-launched C3 premium hatchback. Its interior will share resemblance with the globally sold new C4X crossover and the updated C5 Aircross SUV. The C3 Aircross will be designed on the new CMP/eCMP platform. Honda is planning to foray into the mid-size SUV space in the next couple of years. The company is working on a new SUV that’s reported to enter into production in August 2023. In its first year of market arrival, the company plans to manufacture around 40,000 units of the SUV. The new Honda SUV will share its underpin with the Amaze that’s compatible to different body styles and powertrains. The Honda compact SUV is expected to be offered with 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine with mild or strong hybrid tech, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol or a 1.5L i-DTEC diesel motor. New-Generation Mahindra XUV500 Turbo Petrol

Mahindra & Mahindra discontinued its highly-popular XUV500 SUV in the Indian market. If reports are to be believed, the SUV will return in an all-new avatar as Hyundai Creta rival in 2024. Codenamed S301, the new-generation Mahindra XUV500 might under the extended version of the XUV300’s architecture. The model will be designed by M.A.D.E (Mahindra Automotive Design Europe) team lead by Pratap Bose. Engine setup of the new XUV500 might include an updated diesel motor and a 1.5L turbo mStallion petrol unit. It’s overall length will be around 4.2 or 4.3 meters. More details here….

Tata Curvv is the mid-size SUV Coupe concept that made its global debut in India in April 2022. Initially, its production version will be offered with electric powertrain. The company has already confirmed that its petrol and diesel versions will arrive at a later stage. Its ICE version will be put up against the Hyundai Creta and other existing and upcoming mid-size SUV. Rumour has it that the carmaker might use a new 1.5L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine for its upcoming Creta rival. As of now, there is no official word on its launch timeline. Reports suggest that Renault is working on the new-generation Duster SUV that’s expected to arrive sometime in 2024. Design and styling of the all-new Duster SUV is likely to be inspired by the Dacia Bigster concept. While the global-spec version of the SUV will be designed on the CMF-B platform, its India-spec model is reported to underpin the CMF-B LS architecture.
