Jeep Jeepster, the upcoming new compact SUV from the American SUV manufacturer, is ready to make its global debut towards the end of 2022. The model will witness launch in select global markets sometime next year. As of now, there is no official word on its India launch timeline. Even if India is on launch radar, the model will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. The upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will also give a tough challenge to the new Jeep compact SUV.
Measuring around 4.23 metres in length, Jeepster SUV is reported to be offered with mild hybrid and electric powertrain options. Its hybrid version will feature a 50kWh lithium-ion battery and a front-mounted 10kW electric motor. Its range will be around 321km. Jeep has already confirmed that the new compact SUV will have eAWD (all-wheel drive) system. If launched in India, it could be offered with Citroen’s heavily localized 1.2L turbo petrol engine that powers the newly-launched C3 premium hatchback.
The model will be designed on eCMP platform that also underpins multiple Citroen and Peugeot cars. Talking about its design, the new Jeep Jeepster SUV will share some of its styling bits with the Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV. Upfront, it will carry the signature 7-slate grille, headlamps with split setup with high mounted LED DRLs. In latest spy images, you can notice the sporty alloy wheels, pronounced wheel arches, C-pillar mounted rear door handles and thick body cladding. At the rear, the new Jeep compact SUV will feature a pronounced bumper with faux skid plate and sharply designed taillamps.
Interior details of the Jeepster SUV are still under the wraps. Though, the model is expected to be packed with features such as a floating touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity, dual zone climate control, ventilated leather seats, wireless charging, a sunroof, power adjustable driver seat, engine start/stop button and more.
