Automakers in India have released the sales numbers for the month of July 2022. The sales data confirms that SUVs are gaining more popularity among car buyers, as the demand for hatchbacks and sedans are on decline.
For the first time, the Maruti Alto is not in the list of top 10 selling cars. However, Maruti’s 3 popular cars – the Wagon R, Baleno and the Swift are well placed on top positions. In fact, 6 Maruti cars are in the list of the best-selling cars in the month of July 2022. In this article, we bring you the list of top 5 selling SUVs in the month of July 2022.

1. Tata Nexon – 14,214
The Nexon sub-4-meter SUV maintains a significant lead in terms of sales in the SUV category. Tata Motors sold 14,214 Nexon SUVs in July 2022 as against 10,287 units in the same month last year. In the month of June 2021, Tata Motors had delivered 14,295 Nexon models in June 2021.
2. Hyundai Creta – 12,625
The Korean automaker, Hyundai has delivered 12,625 Creta SUVs in July 2022 as against 13,000 units in the same month last year. However, the brand’s month-on-month sales declined. In the month of June 2021, Hyundai sold 13,790 Cretas in the market.
3. Hyundai Venue – 12,000
Hyundai has recently launched the new Venue facelift with design changes and upgraded interior. This helps the company to increase its sales in the market. The company delivered 12,000 units in July 2022, as against 8,185 models in the same month last year. In fact, the Venue’s MoM sales have also been increased. In June 2021, Hyundai delivered 10,321 units in the market.
4. Tata Punch – 11,007
The Tata Punch has also received an overwhelming response from car buyers. Tata Motors sold 11,007 Punch SUVs in July 2022, which is also highest since its launch on October 18, 2021.
5. Maruti Brezza – 9,694
Maruti Suzuki has sold 9,700 units of the new Brezza SUV in July 2022. This is around 2,300 units less than the Venue. The company had delivered 12,676 and 4,404 units of the Brezza in July 2021 and June 2022 respectively.
