Hyundai Xcent compact sedan

Hyundai India launched the Xcent which officially marked its entry into the growing compact sedan segment of the country. It is basically the sedan version of the Indian Car of the Year, Grand i10 hatchback. South Korean automaker surely expecting to repeat the hatchback’s success story but this segment has already been populated and several new products are also ready to make their entry in the market. It competes against the likes of Honda Amaze and Maruti Swift Dzire, which are currently dominating the segment. The segment will soon be joined by the Tata Zest which is scheduled to be launched by festive season.

Engine Specifications & Transmission

Hyundai Xcent is powered by the same petrol and diesel engines that also powers the Grand i10 hatchback. The petrol version gets the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder engine that develops 83PS at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of top torque at 4,000rpm. The diesel version is propelled by a 1.1-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine that is capable of developing 72PS at 4,000rpm and torque of 180Nm at 1,500-2500rpm.

Both the engines are coupled to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox, while the petrol version also gets the 4-speed auto gearbox.

Hyundai Xcent mileage

While the diesel version of the sedan returns an impressive 18.9kmpl in city and 24.4kmpl on highways, the petrol version delivers 15.7kmpl and 19.1kmpl in city and on freeways. Its automatic variant offers a mileage of 12.4kmpl and 16.9kmpl in city and on highways, respectively.

Hyundai Xcent Exterior

The compact sedan looks exactly similar to that of its hatchback sibling, Grand i10. The vehicle looks similar till the C-pillar; boot is what distinguishes it with the hatchback model. Based on Hyundai’s signature mature ‘Fluidic design’ sculpture, the compact sedan looks sporty. The Hyundai Xcent compact sedan gets swept back headlamps and wrap around tail lamps with chrome inserts, chrome finished hexagonal air dam, steepy raked windshield, and wide daylight opening area, front bumper with integrated spoiler and sporty dual tone rear bumper with stylish reflectors. Its wheel arches sports 15-inchdiamond cut alloy wheels, while there chrome handles to further accentuates the overall appearance of the sedan. The stylish and aerodynamic kick-up trunk lid design with chrome garnish and LED high mount stop lamp add to its rich feel.

Hyundai Xcent Interior

Inside the cabin, the vehicle has a bright dual tone beige and black interiors with high quality plastic. The compact sedan gets a smartly designed dashboard which is integrated with hexagonal outlined audio. It has several utility storage spaces in door trims and centre console, well contoured seats with excellent cushioning and rear arm rest, premium leather wrap steering wheel, leather wrapped gear shift selector with chrome inserts and others. The vehicle has a boot space of 407-litres, which is more than sufficient to carry 4 suitcases easily.
