Hyundai India will introduce a more powerful version of its entry level hatchback, the Eon, in the country. With the introduction of Datsun Go hatchback, the competition level in this segment gets furious. Now, the South Korean automaker is aiming to give a slight makeover and a new powerful engine to its smallest hatchback, which is expected to cost little more than the current model.
If media reports to believe, the updated Hyundai Eon will get the 1.0-litre, three cylinder powertrain that also does duty to the European-spec Hyundai i10. This engine is capable of developing 65bhp and 95Nm of top power and torque, respectively. However; the company might also tune the engine to offer high fuel efficiency. The current generation model is packed with 814cc, 3-cylinder engine that produces 55bhp of top power.
Hyundai Eon is also expected to get minor tweaks both inside and outside. However; the changes will be minimal and are only offer a more refreshing appearance to this stylish entry-level hatchback. The company might also add several features to this model.
With the subtle changes and the new 1.0-litre engine, the company will positioned Eon hatchback well against the likes of the Maruti Alto K10 and the Datsun Go.
