Honda Insight Sedan In India For The First Time – What’s It Doing?
The third-generation Honda Insight hybrid sedan was recently caught on camera during its test rounds in India. The uncamouflaged test mule features an on-road emission testing rig protruding from the boot. Powering the hybrid sedan is a 1.5L Atkinson cycle petrol engine coupled to an electric motor. The combined power output of the hybrid powertrain stands at 151bhp. With the help instant torque from the electric motor, it can do 0 to 100kmph in around 7.7 seconds. For performing transmission duties, the new Honda Insight gets an e-CVT gearbox.
Sporting the brand’s latest design language, the new Honda Insight features a low-slung front fascia with a chrome grille and LED headlamps. The hybrid sedan shares several components with the Honda Civic. We have reported earlier that the new-generation Honda City might take its design inspiration from the new Honda Insight sedan.
Honda equips the new Insight with driver assistance system that includes lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, traction control, traffic sign recognition system, road departure mitigation system, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, auto highbeam headlamps, vehicle stability assist and tyre pressure monitoring system.
Features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, push button start, dual-zone automatic climate control system, electric adjustable driver seat, heated front seats and LED ambient lighting are also on offer. Read – New Honda Jazz Is Not Coming To India
As of now, Honda Cars India has no plan to launch the Insight hybrid sedan in the country. The company tests its multiple products with different engine-gearbox combinations to collect date in different weather conditions, traffic areas and road infrastructure.
