It is no secret that Tata is working on a range of new cars for Indian market. SUVs will play an important role in Tata’s product porfolio to further strengthen market share. Not just SUVs, Tata will also launch a premium hatchback and a mid-sized sedan in India in the next 2 years. In this article we talk about the upcoming Tata SUVs in India –

Tata Harrier

We all know that Tata will launch a 5-seater premium SUV in January 2019. Called Tata Harrier, the SUV will sit somewhere between the Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass in terms of pricing. The SUV will be the brand’s first product to be based on new OMEGA platform, which is derived from Land Rover’s D8 architecture. The SUV also mark the debut of Tata’s new IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN Philosophy. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is capable of producing 140bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.

Tata Harrier 7-Seater

Tata Motors is also working on a 7-seater SUV based on the Harrier. This model will be longer than the standard model and will rival the Mahindra XUV500 and the base variants of Toyota Fortuner & Honda CR-V. Codenamed H7X, the Harrier’s 7-seater model will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine which is likely to offer around 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Tata Hornbill

What’s interesting is that Tata is working on a micro SUV, codenamed Hornbill. It will be the company’s smallest SUV to challenge the Mahindra KUV100 and Maruti Ignis. This segment will also see the entry of Hyundai and Maruti. Tata Hornbill will be based on the AMP (Advanced Modular Platform) that will also be used in Tata’s upcoming 45X hatchback. It wll be powered by a BS6 compliant turbocharged petrol engine. We believe that the BSVI compliant version of the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine could power this small SUV. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer.

New-gen Tata Nexon

It will be powered by the BSVI compliant versions of the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engines.
