Fiat Primo Hatchback

Likely to be called Fiat Primo, the Punto’s successor is reportedly to be unveiled in November 2017 and will go on sale in 2018

We informed you earlier that Fiat is working on an all-new hatchback, which will come as a replacement for the Fiat Punto. According to a report published on Passion Auto Italy, the Fiat Punto successor for European markets could be announced in November 2017. The company has already started testing the hatchback and is expected to be launched in the international markets in 2018. Adding to it, a leaked product roadmap of Fiat confirms that the new hatchback is in the works. The new B-Segment hatchback will be slotted between the Fiat Argo and the Tipo hatchback. If reports are to be believed, the premium hatchback could be called Fiat Primo.

The Fiat Primo is reportedly to be based on the Fiat X6H platform that also underpins the Fiat Argo. The vehicle will not share design cues from the Argo, instead it will be an all-new car with styling cues to be shared from the Tipo siblings. The report further indicates that the Punto successor will get better comfort, convenience and safety features. There could be structural changes to offer stronger crash protection. It will rival against the likes of new VW Polo, Ford Fiesta hatch and Nissan Micra.

Fiat is currently making the Punto in India, and the next generation model could also make its way to our market. The India-spec model is powered by a 90bhp, 1.3-litre MJD diesel engine, which is unlikely to be offered on the next-gen Punto. The new generation model is likely to get Fiat’s new Fire family, which will be developed at the company’s Bielsko-Biala, Poland plant.

Fiat Primo Price In India

The Punto’s successor will get all-new exterior and interior with several comfort, convenience and safety features. With premium features, the hatchback is likely to be priced slightly higher than the outgoing model. We expect this hatchback to cost between Rs 5.2 lakh and Rs 8 lakh.
