Compass Based Jeep Low-D 7-Seater SUV Launch Details Revealed

Jeep Grand Commander Engine

The upcoming Jeep’s 7-seater SUV will challenge the Honda CR-V and Skoda Kodiaq.

We informed you earlier that Jeep will launch a sub-4 meter SUV and a 7-seater premium SUV in the Indian market by 2022. The first model to go on sale will be a sub-4 meter SUV, which is expected to arrive in 2020. This small SUV will be based on the new Fiat Panda’s platform and will challenge the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. Though, it will be slightly expensive than its direct rivals.

Coming back to the second model, the 7-seater SUV will use the Jeep Compass platform. For people not in the know, the Compass is built on Jeep’s Small Wide 4×4 platform which is widely used across FCA range including Renegade. This platform will also be used to develop Fiat’s upcoming Toro based SUV, which is likely to arrive at the 2018 Sao Paulo Auto Show in concept form.

The Jeep 7-seater Low-D SUV will be launched in India in 2021. This SUV will directly rival the likes of Honda CR-V, Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner & Ford Endeavour. Thanks to heavily localised platform, the 7-seater SUV is expected to arrive with an aggressive price tag.

Besides these 2 SUVs, Jeep will launch the trail-rated Compass model in India in the first quarter of 2019. Moreover, the company will launch the new-gen Wrangler and Cherokee SUVs in 2019. Jeep is also considering the Renegade compact SUV for Indian market; however, nothing concrete has been revealed by the automaker.
