BS6 Tata Harrier Spotted Ahead of its Launch

Tata Harrier is one of the top-selling vehicles from the home-grown carmaker in India. The compact SUV is currently available with BS4-compliant 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine boosted with an advanced EGR and low friction valve train architecture. The company will soon upgrade the existing 2.0L oil burner to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms that will come into effect from 1st April, 2020. There is a possibility that its BS6-ready version could also be tuned for generating power worth 170bhp paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox sourced from Hyundai.

BS6 Tata Harrier spied

The 170bhp, 2.0L diesel engine will also be used in the 7-seater version of the Tata Harrier that could be named Tata Cassini in India. The same powertrain has also been used in the Jeep Compass. The home-grown carmaker might also offer the BS6-compliant 170bhp, 2.0L diesel motor only on the top-end trims of the Tata Harrier.

Compared to its manual counterparts, the BS6 Tata Harrier will be priced premium of around Rs 1 lakh – Rs 1.5 lakh. Currently, the SUV lineup comes in four variants (XE, XM, XT and XZ) priced from Rs 12.99 lakh – Rs 16.75 lakh. It also includes a dual-tone model that’s costs Rs 16.95 lakh. The newly-launched Tata Harrier Dark Edition has been priced at Rs 15.55 lakh (XT) and Rs 16.75 lakh (XZ). All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
