Audi R8 LMX with laser headlamps

While BMW introduced the world’s first laser headlamps equipped car- the i8 Plug-in hybrid on the global stage, Audi has launched India’s first ever car- the Audi R8 LMX to feature the Laser headlamps in the country. The Audi R8 LMX with laser headlamps is priced at Rs. 2.97 crore, ex-showroom Mumbai/Delhi.

Production limited to 99 vehicles globally, the Audi R8 LMX is the most powerful production spec R8. It is powered by a massive 5.2-litre V10 engine that churns out a maximum power output of 570bhp and a peak torque of 540Nm. The car accelerates to 100kmph from zero in mere 3.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 320kmph. Power is transmitted to Quattro all-wheel drive system via a seven-speed S-Tronic gearbox.

The laser headlamps get activated at 60kmph onwards, and offer improved visibility than the conventional units. This unit provides twice the range compared to the all LED headlamps. The vehicle is equipped with new laser high beam headlamps, fixed rear spoiler, and aggressive styling. It is available in an exclusive Ara Blue paint. Inside, the Audi R8 LMX gets carbon fibre, Nappa leather and Alcantara, limited edition badging, and contrasting stitching in Ara Blue and Sepang Blue shades.

Mr. Joe King, Head, Audi India, said “Audi has always been at the forefront in lighting technologies. Audi was the first luxury car manufacturer to bring LED headlights in India. Last year, we introduced Matrix Headlamps in our flagship model, Audi A8 L – again a first by any luxury car manufacturer in the country – direct evolution of Audi’s signature LED headlights delivering a phenomenal 966,105,422 different illumination configurations. The introduction of the laser headlight to the Audi R8 LMX underscores our leading position in lighting technology”.
