Audi, the German luxury carmaker, has announced that the launch of A3 Cabriolet in the Indian car market will take place on December 11, 2014. Set to join the A3 sedan lineup, the A3 Cabriolet will come as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit). Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show alongside the sedan version, the convertible is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 35-40 lakh.
Talking about styling, the A3 Cabriolet shares most of its design elements with its sedan sibling. The 4-door convertible features the soft-top which adds to its sporty appeal. Its roof is made of soft fabric, and it can open or close electro-hydraulically in less than 18 seconds at speeds up to 50kmph.
The Audi A3 Cabriolet is expected to be offered in petrol version only. It is powered by the 1.8-litre turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 180PS of top power and 350Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a seven-speed S-tronic dual clutch automatic gearbox. The company might also add diesel version, which is expected to get the 2.0-litre TDI unit producing 150PS of power.
