At the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, Ford showcased the Figo compact sedan alongside the new Fiesta saloon. The much-awaited compact sedan is scheduled to go on sale in the first half of 2015. Apart from this sedan, the company is also working on the all-new Figo hatchback for the Indian car market. Already launched in Brazil as Ka hatch, the next generation Figo has been spotted for the first time in India. The vehicle spotted in Pune, Maharashtra, which indicates that the hatch could be here for ARAI certification.
Based on the thoroughly modified old Fiesta platform, the new Figo hatchback gets all-new exterior and interiors. The company has used high-tensile strength steel to reduce some weight, which contributes to its fuel efficiency and performance. The new model is expected to get the 1.5-litre diesel engine that will be carried over from the Fiesta. Its 1.2-litre petrol unit is likely to be replaced by the all-new 1.0-litre petrol engine.
The next generation Figo and Figo compact sedan will be manufactured at the Ford’s second manufacturing unit in Sanand, Gujarat. It is likely to get the SYNC AppLink with connectivity system installed. The exteriors of the hatchback largely resemble the concept. However, the company has slightly modified the aerodynamic curves and creases to make it road compatible.
