7 New Tata SUVs Coming Soon – Details Explained

Tata Motors is committed to maintaining its leadership in the electric vehicle (EV) market by introducing a range of new models. The carmaker has recently confirmed the launch of four new EVs, including the updated Nexon EV, Punch EV, Harrier EV, and Curvv EV. Additionally, three popular SUVs – Nexon, Harrier, and Safari – will receive upgrades. All these models are scheduled to debut by early 2024. The 2023 Tata Nexon and Nexon EV facelifts will launch together in September, while the updated Harrier and Safari will hit showrooms during the 2023 festive season. The Tata Harrier EV and Punch EV are set to go on sale before the year’s end, followed by the electric version of the Curvv coupe SUV in the first quarter of 2024. Let’s delve into key details of the upcoming Tata SUVs.

Upcoming New Tata SUVs

Updated Tata Nexon/Nexon EV

New 2023 Tata Nexon

The new Tata Nexon and Nexon EV are not expected to undergo drastic design changes, though some design elements inspired by the Curvv concept will refresh their appearance. The interiors will also receive upgrades, including a new two-spoke multifunction steering wheel with an illuminated logo, purple seat upholstery, a 7.0-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a revised panel for AC controls, and a new gear lever. The integration of a 360-degree camera and ADAS tech could be significant. Both Tata SUVs will feature a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The ICE-powered Nexon will receive a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox, while the powertrain setup of the 2023 Tata Nexon EV will remain unchanged.

During the upcoming festive season, the updated Harrier and Safari SUVs will be launched. The exterior changes will be minimal. The interiors of both models will feature a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with improved graphics, an updated interface, and enhanced functionality. The unit will support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, voice recognition, and connected car technology. Additionally, a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster, fresh seat upholstery, and a dashboard with faux wood finish will be offered. The 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts will prioritize safety with ADAS tech. Reports suggest that the carmaker might introduce a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine to the SUVs’ updated model lineup.

Tata Punch EV

The Tata Punch, the brand’s second top-selling SUV, is set to go electric by the end of 2023. The electric version of this micro SUV will feature Tata’s Ziptron powertrain, which includes a liquid-cooled battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor. While exact battery and electric motor specifications are unknown, media reports suggest the Punch EV could offer two battery pack options – a 19.2kWh with a 74bhp electric motor and a 24kWh with a 61bhp electric motor. Similar setups are available with the Tiago EV. Features like a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo and a 360-degree camera might also be included.

The Tata Harrier EV was showcased in concept form at this year’s Auto Expo. Its production version is expected to closely resemble the concept. The electric SUV will be built on Tata’s new Gen 2 (Sigma) platform, a modified version of the Omega platform. Design elements such as a blanked-off front grille, split headlamps with a new LED light bar, revised bumpers, angular creases, EV badges, and new taillamps with an LED light bar will distinguish it from its ICE-powered counterpart. Similar to the upcoming Harrier facelift, the SUV’s electric version will feature ADAS technology along with full connectivity and modern tech.

Tata Curvv EV

The Tata Curvv EV’s launch is confirmed for early 2024, followed by its ICE-powered version. Exact specifications of the electric coupe SUV are yet to be disclosed. However, the carmaker has confirmed that the Curvv EV will offer an electric range of approximately 400km to 500km. Similar to its concept, the final model will embody the brand’s new ‘Digital’ design language and be built on the new-generation electric platform. In terms of features, dual free-standing digital screens will serve as an infotainment system and an instrument cluster. The feature list will also include auto park assist, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control with dual toggles, and a panoramic sunroof.
