Tata Motors had overtaken Hyundai Motors in terms of sales in December 2021. With its aggressive product strategy, the home-grown automaker might surpass Hyundai for this entire fiscal year. It will only be possible, if Tata managed to meet its production and sales targets. The company aims for record sales in Q4, FY22 with its Electric and CNG range of vehicles. The automaker has planned several new models for this year including three electric cars. Here’re key details of the top 7 new Tata cars, which are slated to hit roads in 2022.
Long-Range Tata Nexon EV
The updated Tata Nexon EV will be the next big launch from the home-grown automaker in the country. Though, its launch date is yet to be announced. The electric SUV’s new model is reported to come with a bigger 40kWh battery pack offering power worth 136PS and a range over 400km. The existing 30.3kWh battery pack model will also be on offer. The 2022 Tata Nexon EV will receive a few noticeable design changes and feature upgrades as well.
2022 Tata Tigor EV
The 2022 Tata Tigor EV, which is currently in testing phase, will soon hit showrooms. This time around, the electric sedan is likely to witness subtle cosmetic changes along with a few new features. Though, the major update will come in the form of a larger capacity battery pack. Its long-range version is likely to deliver range of 375km – 400km on a full charge. Changes are likely to be made to its floor pan to accommodate a bigger battery. The automaker might also update its suspension setup, which likely to increase its weight and ground clearance.
Tata Harrier/Safari Petrol
2022 Tata Harrier and Safari petrol models have already been caught on camera multiple times during their test rounds. Both SUVs are likely to receive a new 1.6L turbo DI gasoline motor that’s said to be more powerful than the MPFI engines and have lower emission levels. The power and torque figures will be close to 160bhp and 250Nm respectively. The Harrier petrol will be equipped with automatic gearbox and paddle shifters with multiple drive modes.
Tata Nexon Dual-Clutch AT
The automaker introduced the Altroz premium hatchback with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox in March 2022. The same transmission unit is reported to be offered on the Tata Nexon with a 1.2L turbo petrol engine. The motor pushes out a peak power of 120PS and 170Nm of torque. The Tata Nexon DCT will take directly on the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet DCT, which come with a 120PS, 1.0L turbo petrol motor.
Tata Nexon CNG
Tata Motors has been testing the CNG version of the Nexon subcompact SUV. The model is likely to come with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with the factory-fitted CNG kit. While the regular gasoline unit returns a claimed power of 86bhp and 113Nm of torque, the Tata Nexon CNG will be good for 73bhp and 95Nm. The latter will offer an ARAI-certified mileage of 26.49km/kg.
Tata Altroz EV
The Tata Altroz EV, which was revealed in its concept form at the 2022 Auto Expo, is likely to arrive towards the end of this year. The electric hatchback will come with Tata’s updated Ziptron technology and offer range over 300km. A few cosmetic changes are likely to be made to the Altroz EV. Similar to the concept, its production-ready version might feature a closed-off grille and star patters on the front air dam. The model will have Blue highlights across the interior along with the lighter upholstery.
