Tata Motors has rolled out the 4,00,000th Tiago hatchback from its Sanand based assembly line in Gujarat. Interestingly, the Tata Tiago is the brand’s first model to achieve this production milestone. In order to celebrate the occasion, the company has introduced the #Tiago4ever campaign in the country. The hatchback was first launched in early 2016, followed by its facelift in January 2020. The automaker added the CNG variant to the hatchback model lineup in January 2022.
Currently, the Tiago is available with the 1.2L naturally aspirated Revotron petrol that delivers power worth 86PS with 113Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. Prices of the hatchback start from Rs 5.23 lakh and go up to Rs 7.68 lakh.
There are four automatic variants – XTA, XZA, XZA+ and XZA+ Dual-tone roof – priced at Rs 6.38 lakh, Rs 6.78 lakh, Rs 7.21 lakh and Rs 7.33 lakh respectively. The Tata Tiago CNG models come within price range of Rs 6.13 lakh – Rs 7.68 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
Tata’s Future Plans
The home-grown automaker recently unveiled the Curvv EV concept that previews the brand’s upcoming electric mid-size SUV. Its production version will be first introduced as a pure electric car, followed by its petrol and diesel versions. The model is likely to arrive in 2024. The Tata Currv concept underpins the brand’s Generation 2 EV architecture that supports multiple body styles and powertrains. It also carries Tata’s new ‘Digital’ Design language.
In coming days, Tata Motors might also unveil a new AWD (all-wheel drive) electric SUV in its concept avatar. While the automaker remains tight lipped about the upcoming model, it’s reported to be the Tata Sierra EV that broke cover at the 2020 Auto Expo. The SUV’s production-ready version is likely to arrive by 2024-25.
