Tata Motors has started testing the Nexon CNG variant, which was recently caught in camera in Pune. The model was spotted near the CNG-filling station. If reports are to be believed, the 2022 Tata Nexon CNG will be offered with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine paired to a factory-fitted CNG kit. While the gasoline motor makes a top power of 86bhp and 113Nm of torque, the CNG powertrain will be slightly less powerful and less torquier. The latter will deliver a maximum power of 73bhp and 95Nm of torque.
Similar to Tata’s new CNG models, the 2022 Tata Nexon CNG will return an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 26.49km/kg. It will be available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. At present, the subcompact SUV comes with the 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engine options. The home-grown automaker is planning to further expand its CNG model range in coming years. The lineup will include the Tata Punch CNG that will come with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol motor and a CNG kit.
In other updates, Tata will give a mid-life update to the Nexon EV by mid 2022. The new model is reported to come with a 40kWh battery pack delivering a range of around 400km on a full charge. The existing version, with a 30.2kWh battery pack, returns a claimed power of 127bhp and 245Nm of torque. The 2022 Tata Nexon EV facelift will receive a few significant changes including all-four disc brakes. The electric SUV will get a blacked-out grille, new bumper with tri-arrow motif and fog lamp assembly and angular headlamps with LED DRLs.
The home-grown automaker will also bring in the Tata Altroz automatic and Altroz EV sometime this year. The company’s flagship Safari SUV and Harrier SUV will receive a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine delivering power worth 160bhp and 250Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
