6 Updated SUV/MPV Launches In Coming Months – Tata, Kia

Kia India and Tata Motors are ready to update their existing UV (Utility Vehicle) model lineup in coming months. While the South Korean automaker will introduce the Sonet, Seltos and Carens facelifts, the home-grown carmaker will roll out the heavily updated Nexon, Harrier and Safari. Here’s the expected launch timeline (as per media reports) and key details of the aforementioned models.

The Kia Seltos facelift will come with slightly improved design and more feature-packed interior by mid 2023. It will derive some of its design bits from the new Sportage and Telluride SUVs. The carmaker will equip the new Seltos with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) tech. It will also come with new switches for the HVAC controls, a 360 degree camera and a curved dashboard integrated display. The engine and gearbox options will be similar to the current model that includes a 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol, a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5L diesel. More details here…

The updated Sonet is reported to hit showrooms in late 2023. Major changes will be made to its front fascia. The subcompact SUV will receive a new grille with piano black finish, sharper headlight design, revised bumper and bigger fog lamp assembly. The side profile could be revised with the newly-designed alloy wheels, new body cladding and side doors. At the rear, there will be new L-shaped taillamps. A few changes will also be made inside the cabin. The new 2023 Kia Sonet is likely to come with the 83bhp, 1.2L NA petrol, 120bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and 115bhp, 1.5L diesel engines. After the Seltos, the Kia Carens will be the brand’s second SUV to receive a mid-life update. One of the major feature upgrades might come in the form of ADAS suite. The MPV could also receive a new touchscreen infotainment system, an updated instrument cluster and seat upholstery. Under the hood, the new 2023 Kia Carens will employ the same 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines making 160bhp and 115bhp respectively. Tata Harrier/Safari Facelift

The 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts are reported to go on sale during 2023 Diwali season. Though, the carmaker has already commenced their bookings. Both models will be offered with the ADAS tech, thus making them safer than the existing ones. Features such as a new 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 360 degree camera and a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster will also be on offer. Most of the cosmetic changes will be visible at the front end. The new Harrier and Safari will be powered by the same 2.0L turbo diesel engine delivering 170bhp and 350Nm. Tata Nexon Facelift

The home-grown automaker might introduce the updated Nexon by August 2023. While the new model will retain the original silhouette and angular stance, it will borrow some of its design bits from the Curvv concept. The 2023 Tata Nexon facelift is likely to come with a newly-designed front grille, revised headlamps positioned slightly lower, more upright stance and a flatter nose. Tata might equip the compact SUV with the ADAS tech along with a new touchscreen infotainment unit sourced from the new Harrier and Safari. Powering the new model will be the 1.2L petrol (125bhp/225Nm) and 1.5L diesel engines, which produce a maximum power of 125bhp with 225Nm and 110bhp with 260Nm. More details here…
