6 Cars to Get Major Updates in 2023 – SUVs/MPV

In order to boost their sales, car manufacturers update their popular models with new feature or tech upgrades, and design changes on a yearly basis. Several cars are ready to receive mid-life updates this year as well including three Tata SUVs and two Kia SUVs and a MPV. Let’s take a look at key details of the upcoming facelifted models.

Upcoming New SUVs/MPV – Facelifts

Tata Nexon

New 2023 Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon facelift is ready to hit showrooms by August 2023. The model, which is currently in it’s final testing phase, will receive significant changes inside and out. While the interior layout will be retained, it will get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, new twin-spoke steering wheel, new purple seat upholstery, a fully digital instrument console and paddle shifters. The subcompact SUV will come with newly-designed alloy wheels and Curvv-inspired design changes. One of the major updates could be introduced in the form of a new 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine making 125PS and 225Nm. The existing 1.5L diesel engine will continue to be on offer. Tata Harrier/Safari

2023 Tata Safari Bookings

After the updated Nexon, Tata Motors will bring in the Harrier and Safari facelift – possibly during 2023 festive season. Design changes of the Harrier will be heavily inspired by Harrier EV concept that was showcased at this year’s Auto Expo. There will be a completely new front fascia featuring new grille and revised bumper with restyled housing. Though, the split headlamp setup will remain unchanged. The SUV will get new alloys, new LED taillamps with connected light bar and revised tailgate design. Major interior changes will include a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, new digital instrument cluster, brown leatherette seats, new stubby gear selector for automatic gearbox and ADAS tech. Kia Seltos

2023 Kia Seltos Design

The new Kia Seltos facelift will go on sale in mid 2023 (possibly in July or August). On the exterior, the SUV will receive a new grille, headlamp setup with revised LED DRLs and tweaked bumper. Design bits such as new tailgate design, new LED taillamps connected via a light bar, a dual-tone bumper with faux silver inserts and updated tailgate enhance its rear profile. Interior will be revised with a new dashboard layout with an updated centre console, new upholstery and new colour theme. ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) will be biggest feature upgrade enhancing its safety quotient. The new Seltos will use the existing 1.5L turbo diesel and 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine along with a new 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol motor. More details here…

Kia Sonet

New 2023 Kia Sonet Launch

Kia India will also give a mid-life update to its Sonet subcompact SUV towards the end of 2023. The updated model was recently caught testing revealing some of its design details. The front end will be revised with a new grille in piano black finish, tweaked bumper, sharply designed headlamps and larger fog lamp assembly. Some of its other design changes might include different side doors and body cladding, revised taillamps and a flatter tailgate. Minimal changes are expected to be made inside the cabin. Under the hood, the new Sonet will feature the same 1.0L turbo petrol, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L diesel engines. More details here…

Kia Carens

2023 Kia Carens

The Kia Carens facelift will be the second updated model from the South Korean automaker in 2023. Reports suggest that the MPV’s updated version will arrive during this year’s Diwali season. This time around, the company might introduce it with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) tech and a panoramic sunroof. There could also be new touchscreen infotainment system, updated instrument cluster, new seat upholstery and interior theme. Powering the new Carens will be the same 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines that do duty in the existing model.
