Tata Harrier Facelift To Get Fresh Design & Interior

Tata Motors had launched the Harrier mid-sized SUV in 2019 and is now ready to receive a major makeover. In February 2023, the 5-seater SUV received a model year update with BS6 2-compliant diesel engine and new ADAS features. The 2023 model looks largely identical to the original SUV, as now changes were made to its exterior styling. However, Tata Motors has started testing the heavily revised Harrier SUV on the Indian roads.

The latest spy images reveal that the Harrier facelift will source design cues from the Harrier EV, which was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The front fascia of the Harrier facelift has horizontal slats on the grille and on the front bumper. It will retain the split headlamp setup but with new housing and revised bumper with restyled housing for the main light cluster.

The side profile of the Tata Harrier facelift will remain the same; however, it could get newly styled alloy wheels. The rear profile of the SUV will have a revised tailgate design with new LED tail-lamps with connecting light stripe.

The updated Harrier retains most of the elements from the existing models; however, the company has added some new design elements and faux wood finish on the dashboard along with a new colour scheme for seats. It will come with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system sourced from Harman. The display will have better graphics, new functionality and an updated interface. The system will support voice recognition, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and connected car tech.

The new Tata Harrier facelift will come with a new 7-inch digital instrument console, new stubby gear selector for the automatic gearbox and brown leatherette seats. The new model will come with an advanced driver assistance system with features like forward collision alert, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane change assist and traffic sign recognition.

Engine Options

The new Tata Harrier facelift will retain the existing 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

It is expected that the Harrier could also receive a new 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new powertrain has stiffer aluminum built, and is claimed to offer better performance and fuel efficiency. The direct injection motor is capable of producing 170bhp at 5000rpm and 280Nm of torque at 2000rpm – 3500rpm. This powertrain could be offered with manual and automatic gearbox options.
