Upcoming cars under 10 lakhs – check out price, launch date, specifications, images and other details of upcoming new cars in India under Rs 10 lakh
The sub 10 lakh four-wheeler space is one of the most popular segments in India, with some of the top-selling models accounting for a huge chunk of sales. In other words, it could rightly be referred as the money-spinning segment with majority of volumes drawn by niche models such as Honda City, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the likes. In fact, City has been the most profitable product for the Japanese automaker in India. While we have already witnessed launch of some of the highly anticipated vehicles in the current year, there is lot more coming up in the next couple of years. If you are planning to buy a new car that falls in the same price band, here’s a complete list of the upcoming cars under 10 lakhs slated to launch in India in the next two years.
South Korean automaker has confirmed an all-new compact hatchback for the Indian market. Internally known as Hyundai AH, the new entry-level small car is likely to revive the Santro brand in the country. Scheduled to launch this year, this new hatch will be positioned between Eon and Grand i10. It is expected to be launched before Diwali, 2018. The company has confirmed that the new model will have a tall-boy stance, which suggests that a crossover-like profile could be offered with the hatchback. It will be positioned below the Grand i10 and will rival the likes of Tata Tiago, Maruti Celerio and Renault Kwid 1.0.
Under the hood, the hatchback might house a 1.1-litre iRDE and a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol powertrains. The carline could be offered with two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and an AMT. If media reports are to be believed, the next-gen Santro will be Hyundai’s first car to feature an AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox.
Expected Price – Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6 lakh
Expected Launch – Mid 2018
Engine Options – 1.2L petrol and 1.1L petrol
It’s no secret that Mahindra & Mahindra is working on a sub-4 meter SUV that will be positioned against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. Codenamed S201, the compact SUV is based on the SsangYong’s Tivoli’s X100 platform. If reports are to be believed, this model could be named Mahindra XUV300; however, nothing official on the same has been revealed. Homegrown UV maker has already confirmed that the compact SUV will be launched by the end of this year. This compact SUV will share most of its features, body panels and design cues from the Tivoli. Though, it will have an all-new front fascia. Adding to it, the SUV will come with two seating layouts – 5 and 7. The seven-seater model will measure above 4 meter in length and will challenge the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
Interestingly, Mahindra’s new 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine will debut on this new compact SUV. The petrol version of the car will use an all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged direct injection engine, which is likely to produce around 140bhp of power. Both manual and automatic versions of the SUV will be on offer. This model will be one of the most awaited upcoming cars under 10 lakh in India.
