5 New Mahindra SUVs Launching In Next 1-2 Years

Mahindra has launched the new Thar and the XUV700 in the past 2 years. Both models have received an overwhelming response from car buyers. The new Thar and the XUV700 currently commands a waiting period of over 1 year. In fact, Mahindra has recorded over 80% YOY growth last month, registering over 27K sales. In order to further improve sales, Mahindra plans to launch 5 new SUVs in the country in 2022 and 2023-

Mahindra is all set to launch the new generation Scorpio in the country before festival season, Diwali. The new Mahindra Scorpio has already been spotted several times on the Indian roads. It is likely to be unveiled by June 2022, while launch could take place around August. The new model will come with completely new exterior and interior along with new engine options.

The new model will be offered in 6 and 7-seat layout with former offering captain seats in the second row. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel. The diesel engine is likely to be offered with two states of tunes – 130bhp/300Nm & close to 155bhp/360Nm. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The higher variants will also receive a 4×4 drivetrain along with terrain modes & drive modes.

Mahindra eKUV100 Launch

Mahindra will soon launch the electric version of the KUV100 in the country. The new eKUV100 will be the brand’s cheapest electric model in the country. It comes equipped with a 15.9kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor. The electric motor produces 54.4bhp (40kW) and 120Nm of torque. Using regular charger, the battery can be charged to 100% in 5 hr 45min. The battery can achieve 80% charging in 55min using a fast charger. The vehicle is claimed to offer a range of up to 150km; however, Mahindra is working on upgrading the battery to achieve higher range. The Mahindra eKUV100 is expected to be priced around Rs 9 lakh to Rs 13 lakh.

XUV300 Facelift

Mahindra is testing the updated version of the XUV300 sub-4 meter SUV. Likely to be launched before the end of 2022, the new Mahindra XUV300 facelift will come with revised interiors and bolder design. Inside the cabin, the SUV is likely to get an all-new infotainment system with new interface. It could get the updated Visteon-sourced AdrenoX infotainment system, which we have already seen on the new XUV700.

In terms of styling, the new XUV300 facelift will come with a larger, bolder grille with bigger vertical chrome slats, new alloys, revised tail-lights and full LED headlamps along with new Mahindra badge. The new model will also get a new 1.2-litre mStallion engine that is capable of producing 130bhp and 230Nm of torque. The lower variants will continue to be offered with the 110bhp, 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine. The Mahindra XUV300 facelift will continue to be offered with the same 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine.

5-Door Mahindra Thar

Mahindra is working on the 5-door version of the Thar SUV, which is reportedly to be launched sometime in 2023. It will be the long wheelbase version of the Thar. The SUV will receive significant cosmetic updates in the form of beefier front bumper, bigger steel wheels and elongated rear section. The SUV will use the same 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines that powers the 3-door Thar. However, these engines will be tweaked to produce more power and torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

eXUV300 Electric (XUV400)

Mahindra has started testing the new electric version of the XUV300, which is rumoured to be called the Mahindra XUV400. It will be the first model based on Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA) platform. The eXUV300 concept was equipped with two battery pack options – 350V and 380V. While the lower-spec model will rival the Nexon EV, the higher variant will be on par with the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona EV. It will be the first electric vehicle to feature the battery cells developed by LG Chem exclusively for India application.
